FATE Consortium Addresses the Egypt Energy Forum of the 9th World Future Energy Summit

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – January 21, 2016

Hany Bishr, Entrepreneur-in-Residence, FATE Consortium, and Dr. Andreas Wiese, Managing Director, GOPA-International Energy Consultants, presented a collaborative framework and business plan at the Egypt Energy Forum for the development of integrated distributed waste collection mechanisms and waste-to-energy projects in Egypt.

Dr. Ahmad Gaber, Chairman, Chemonics Egypt Consultants, a leading engineering consulting firm in Cairo, graciously provided valuable advice and assistance to the framework.

The framework uses municipal solid and agricultural wastes as feedstock and assesses a variety of financing options as well as state-of-the-art technologies, including those based on direct combustion, advanced thermal and biological treatment processes.

The Egypt Energy Forum was organized by Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and formed part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, held in the period January 18-21, 2016 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Hany Bishr was a Mason Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government for the 2014/15 academic year. Formerly, Mr. Bishr was Advisor to the Governor of Cairo on environmental affairs and more recently Advisor to the Minister of Economy and Planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
